American Communications Network, or ACN, is a company based out of Troy, Michigan and founded in 1993. They utilize a network of direct selling representatives in order to market their products, which include most anything to do with telecommunications such as local and long-distance calling, internet access, wireless, and even natural gas. They currently market in the U.S. and Canada, most European countries, Australia, and New Zealand.

Distributors are given free access to market and distribute a variety of products to customers and then provide limited customer service and support as needed. This establishes a personal connection and the customer is less apt to stop or discontinue service. ACN continues to provide further support for more detailed questions that the distributor cannot answer, and for billing. The company handles all of the details and it's up to the new distributor to make it happen as far as sales. Beginner and advanced training is provided at various stages in the business, and they do have weekly prospect presentation meetings. The company also teaches and trains thru weekend functions, or International seminars, in a large group atmosphere that creates lots of excitement. Unfortunately, getting your batteries recharged from time to time will just about be required with a business of this type due to the incredible rejection you will encounter along the way. You really will need a tough hide to survive in this industry, and telecommunications has tons of competition out there. You'll be competing with all the big established corporations who already have great name brand recognition, and lots of start ups who will slash their prices to make a buck.

Another negative is the relatively large start up fee required, which reports to be around $499. If you are strapped for cash but have a big desire to own your own business, then this may not be the one for you. There are many other opportunities that require no money or very little money to start up, and have the same money making potential or much better. This company also uses a traditional network marketing method with meetings, prospecting, phone calls, and further almost mandatory advanced training, and if you decide to give this business a try you WILL experience lots of disappointment, frustration, and rejection along the way. This is almost a guarantee with traditional network marketing, and most people are unprepared for the rigors involved and eventually drop out. There really IS a much better way…
