MANNATECH was incorporated in 1993 and is headquartered in Coppell, Texas. The company develops nutritional supplements, topical products, and weight-management products, and sells them through a huge network of independent distributors, about 400,000 strong around the world. Mannatech specializes in something called "glyconutrient technology", which is the use of plant extracts to enhance cell-to-cell communication and overall physical health. The company has done a lot of research and development into this area, and has come out with some very cutting edge products. The jury is still out as to the actual health benefit of some of these products though.

The company is publicly traded, and their sales exceed 1.5 billion calculated from the time of inception. Mannatech has been shifting focus from curing ailments to actually providing nutritional supplements that can help the body fight off diseases by providing key nutrients such as antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, and glyconutrients.

The company operates as a traditional network marketing company, with meetings, phone calls, and contacting, and as such you will be subjected to a lot of rejection along the way to building a solid business. This can be overcome, but be prepared for a large learning curve and disappointment along the way. Also, there has been some talk about the questionable character of two of the company's founders. I've found in my experience that the best companies have unquestionable ethics and a solid foundation, with total loyalty to the distributor force. I'm sure there are many people out there who are making a great living with Mannatech, but as with anything, I highly suggest talking with some of the distributors first before deciding if this company if for you. I actually think there are much better opportunities out there which will be much easier to build.
